SourceCorp Pay It Forward
Pay It Forward embraces the idea that instead of paying it back, we pay it forward. As an entirely volunteer service team of SourceCorp, we realize that life is filled with unexpected detours - our purpose is to serve our clients and team members - in their communities and ours. Whether that means lending a hand building a home for the homeless, providing food for the hungry, or giving Christmas toys to orphaned children, we exist to Pay It Forward.
Sourcecorp's Community Outreach Programs are:
- Union Gospel Mission
- 2008 American Heart Association Heart Walk
- Habitat For Humanity
- Meals on Wheels
- Relief for Iowa
Union Gospel Mission - 10/2/2008
We served meals, and provided ancillary services like cleaning up, food preparation, bussing tables, etc, for about 200 folks in two shifts. What a great bunch of people to serve with!!
I was told that several members of UGM’s permanent staff said that we were fantastic to work with – especially, that we were willing to do whatever was needed, and stayed around until it was all done. We’ll be welcomed back with open arms if/when we decide to serve there again.
The place itself is absolutely first rate – it is neat and clean, and staffed with people with a great attitude and work ethic.

2008 American Heart Association Heart Walk
The 2008 Heart Walk was a great success! We raised $1,416 in donations thanks to the generosity of everyone involved. And there were about 13 people who braved the weather to join in the walk that day. The American Heart Association had been in constant contact with the city of Fort Worth regarding the Hurricane Ike storm, in case the event would be cancelled. But luckily, they were just able to shorten the route so it finished before the rain started pouring. That left time for many in the group to enjoy brunch at Mimi’s Café afterward. Thanks to everyone who made this event such a wonderful way to promote healthy living, cardiovascular research, and education.

Sourcecorp Professional Services' first Habitat for Humanity Day
25 or so of us, with some friends and family, helped install siding and trim, paint and caulk a house in Southeast Fort Worth on Saturday, August 16th. We couldn’t have had better weather, and everyone worked very hard.
For all of us that participated, I’m proud to serve with you. Many of us couldn’t help because of prior commitments and many who helped would like to do so again in the future. We want to become servant leaders at work, with clients, and with our community and Saturday’s opportunity to serve is one small example of what we’re becoming.
Thanks again to everyone.

Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels community service project is rolling! The first deliveries, which took about one hour, were completed on August 5 by Steve Wiley, Rene Wiley, and Shelly Rexroat. The team reported the deliveries went well. The August 12 deliveries also took place without any hitches. Chuck Mayfield, Joanna Fuller, and Chandry Jimenez took care of the route on August 13.

Relief for Iowa!
We did it, thanks to the generosity of SourceCorp employees!
We raised $750 and corporate has contributed another $750, for a total of $1,500 to help the flood victims in Iowa. Renee Montgomery has been in Iowa for the past few days, and on Monday, August 11 met in Cedar Rapids with Edwin Hung of Corridor Recovery to hand him a check for $1,500.
SourceCorp's contribution is intended to be part of the fund-raising effort to help Iowa CPAs whose businesses and homes have been damaged or destroyed by the flood waters. Renee said the damage is staggering. Thousands of homes and businesses were flooded, and many of those probably cannot be salvaged and made safe to live in again. Many buildings were swept off of the foundations, she noted, and so many people simply do not homes to go back to or businesses to operate. One of the photographs she took in Iowa is included below. Also below is a photo of Renee presenting the check to Edwin Hung. She'll be bring back more specific information on how your contributions will be spent to help in this devastated area. "The people in this area of Iowa are so very touched that SourceCorp people care enough to help them," said Renee.
